Sunfold were the first company that introduced the bifolding door to the UK market over 20 years ago. Sunfold doors have been extensively used in televised renovation projects and are regarded as one of the premier brands of sliding folding doors.
The Sunfold bifold is arguably one of the slimmest bifolds you can buy with a dimension of just 100mm. This makes them much slimmer than many other bifolding door systems, therefore if you are looking for one of the slimmest doors available, Sunfold is hard to beat.
Sunfold bifolding doors are not a budget door but intended for the high quality end of the market.
There are several features in a Sunfold door that make the product stand out from other cheaper products as well as several features provided with the doors as standard where others charge extra or are simply not available.
One such feature is the facility to create angled bifolding doors. Where most systems are designed for doors to be completely flat, Sunfold manufacture their doors to be faceted if needed making them ideal for curved wall extensions were ideally the doors should also curve around the elevation.
The powder coated finish on Sunfold doors as well as all the hardware is available as “marine grade” which means the doors have been powder coated to resist severe weather environments. This makes the doors ideal for severe weather, salt or swimming pool environments.
The running gear on any bifolding door is a very important part of their operation and design. Sunfold are well regarded for the quality of the sliding action of their doors that is light, smooth and requires minimal effort. Additionally, the doors come with high security locking, fully weathered door tracks and adult and child safe gaskets between the doors.
Three different threshold options are available. A fully flush threshold with brush seals at the bottom, a low threshold with gasket seal for better weather protection and 15mm floor level transition, or a fully weathered track for coastal or extreme locations.
The locking system offered by Sunfold is also ingenious.
Sunfold doors already come with a high security multi-point locking system, but it is the cylinder and keys that are also innovative and customer focused. Each cylinder comes with A, B and C keys. The A key is used by the installer to test the lock whilst adjusting the doors after they have been installed.
The B key is intended for the homeowner and once this is inserted into the lock it re-programs the cylinder so that the A key can no longer work in the lock and is rendered useless. The B key then forms the main keys used to lock and unlock the doors.
In the event that the B keys are lost, a C key is provided with every Sunfold door that once inserted re-programs the cylinder again meaning the lost keys cannot be used. This clever feature means that should keys be lost they can be quickly changed without the need for a locksmith. Keyed alike cylinders are also available that can open more than one set of doors with the same key.
