Warmcore bifolding doors, designed and extruded by Synseal Extrusions is a highly insulated aluminium bifolding door with a PVCu thermal core. One of the newest types of folding doors to hit the market recently, Warmcore markets itself as not only a current generation bifolding door, but also one with excellent thermal performance.
Warmcore provides better U Values with a high specification double glazed unit than other systems offer with triple glazing. Warmcore bifolding doors also offer a choice of aesthetic giving installers a choice of square, chamfered or pencil round profiles. There is also a selection of thresholds.
What is also available is a version of Warmcore that is entirely different. It is called Alufold.
Warmcore bifolding by Aluhaus.
Aluhaus of Nottingham is a very experienced manufacturing company that has taken the standard Warmcore product and changed it. Called Alufold, it is a Warmcore system with a number of changes, re-engineering and product improvements.
There are fundamental differences between Aluhaus Warmcore bifolds and the standard Warmcore product. These differences are based on Aluhaus shifting away from the conventional manufacturing method of Warmcore (as good as that is) as well as a move to different hardware, colour and personalization options.
Why re-engineer an existing aluminium bifolding door system?
Many aluminium manufacturers in the UK offer bifolding doors that are a different version of the original aluminium system. Some choose to re-engineer it to make it different, or simply re-brand it. Examples include products by KAT UK, Vue-lite, Raum, Kloeber, Express Bifolding Doors, Duration Windows and others.
Re-engineering a product to change it or even to make it better is not a bad thing. And there are many good reasons to do so.
Aluminium manufacturers know their aluminium.
Aluminium manufacturers such as Aluhaus possess a lot of experience and knowledge. A manufacturer of aluminium bifolding doors often sees an opportunity to take an already good system and make it better. Some manufacturers will simply change the handles to give a different look to a standard product. Others will work with the systems company in modifying the existing extrusions to make a product unique to them.
Bringing out a new bifolding door is very expensive.
Another reason why manufacturers take an existing system and change it is cost. The investment made by aluminium systems companies like Synseal, in bringing a product to market is substantial. These costs are prohibitive for many aluminium fabricators. Systems companies have the tooling, dies, extrusion facilities and coating plants required. They also have access to testing and certification services. It is logical therefore for a fabricator to take an existing system and work with that systems company in creating a different product. This is easier, better and far cheaper than bringing out their own system.
Re-engineering a bifolding door creates sales opportunities.
For Synseal with Warmcore, it is an opportunity to strengthen a relationship with a manufacturer and sell more aluminium extrusions. For Aluhaus it creates a great opportunity to market a different and improved product, create sales opportunities for now and the future. This is evident by the growing number of installers that are now offering Aluhaus Warmcore bifolding doors.
How installers benefit from a re-engineered bifolding door system.
Taking a system and enhancing it also provides advantages for the product and for installers that sell it. Alufold offers a different sales proposition to the standard Warmcore product for several reasons.
- Many fabricators make Warmcore. Alufold is exclusive to one manufacturer. This is a benefit to installers.
- The features of Alufold doors cannot be found elsewhere, again making the product exclusive.
- Fabricators such as Aluhaus can provide territories for the installer. Installers can confidently sell Alufold in their local area and beyond.
- Being a Dealer for a brand is beneficial to installers compared to the mainstream aluminium systems.
Re-engineering an existing system does not imply the original product was poorly thought out or not good enough. It demonstrates the strength of the aluminium market, the know-how companies such as Aluhaus have to provide a bifolding door that is entirely different from the competition, offering great sales opportunities to installers.
